It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2019 International Neurosurgery Resident Course (INRC), to be held in Hershey, Pennsylvania, USA. The Penn State Department of Neurosurgery has supported this unique course since its inception and we are proud to welcome residents from around the world to Hershey for the fourth International Neurosurgery Resident Conference. We believe that these innovative, low-cost resident education courses offer unique opportunities for didactic instruction, hands on exercises and networking with international faculty and trainees. This year we have asked experts in each neurosurgical subspecialty to choose what they think are the most important concepts for residents to master. We will feature lectures and hands on exercises to address these critical concepts. Two afternoons will be devoted to hands on exercises related to these didactic presentations.

Welcome to Hershey!

Robert E. Harbaugh, MD, FAANS, FACS, FAHA
Senior Vice President, Penn State Health Faculty Medical Group

It is indeed a great honour and privilege for the 4th International Neurosurgery Resident Course (INRC) of the Neurosurgery Research Listserv to be held in Hershey and, under the direction of Dr Robert E Harbaugh. This North American migration for the INRC follows on from the successes of its previous iterations in Berlin in 2016, Malaga in 2017 and, Amsterdam in 2018! The INRC has been a truly international, innovative and dynamic course, setting new standards for resident courses for the current times. The aims of the INRC are to Educate - Stimulate - Inspire the next generation of neurosurgery leaders and the INRC-Hershey 2019 promises again to be an outstanding course for neurosurgery residents from around the world!

Dr Robert Harbaugh, Chairman and Professor of the Department of Neurosurgery, Penn State University, Hershey and, former President of both the AANS and the Society of Neurosurgeons (‘Senior Society’), is bringing together a distinguished faculty from North America and, rest of the World to the INRC-Hershey for a focused didactic course with hands-on sessions. The course would not only be an opportunity to learn from experts but also an occasion to meet the faculty during the social events and, also to renew old friendships and form new ones!

Hershey is a beautiful city with with attractions within it and in its picturesque surrounding countryside. Furthermore, it is in the historical state of Pennsylvania. I am confident that you would have a rewarding and stimulating time at the course and a wonderful time in Hershey!

I look forward to meeting you in Hershey, soon!
