Beyond the Borders Mentorship



The 'Beyond the Borders Mentorship' program of the Listserv aims, to facilitate mentorship for junior Listserv members from senior Listserv members.

Eligibility for prospective protégés

  • Open to young neurosurgeons, fellows, residents and medical students
  • Have been a member of the Neurosurgery Research Listserv for minimum of 6-months


Eligibility for prospective mentors

  • Neurosurgeon: practicing, board-certified or retired
  • Have been a member of the Neurosurgery Research Listserv for minimum of 12-months

Process

  • Initial mentorship is for 2-years
  • The protégé-mentor match would be made by the Listserv
  • At the first meeting agree on a 2-year plan
  • Meetings between the protégé and the mentor could meet in person or through telephony, webinar or email
  • Protégé would be encouraged to spend a minimum of 1-week as an observer at the practice of the mentor
  • A minimum of two meetings a year
  • At the end of 2-years, the protégé and the mentor would be expected to submit a review of their experience of the mentorship to the Neurosurgery Research Listserv
