Beyond the Borders Mentorship
The 'Beyond the Borders Mentorship' program of the Listserv aims, to facilitate mentorship for junior Listserv members from senior Listserv members.
Eligibility for prospective protégés
- Open to young neurosurgeons, fellows, residents and medical students
- Have been a member of the Neurosurgery Research Listserv for minimum of 6-months
Eligibility for prospective mentors
- Neurosurgeon: practicing, board-certified or retired
- Have been a member of the Neurosurgery Research Listserv for minimum of 12-months
Process
- Initial mentorship is for 2-years
- The protégé-mentor match would be made by the Listserv
- At the first meeting agree on a 2-year plan
- Meetings between the protégé and the mentor could meet in person or through telephony, webinar or email
- Protégé would be encouraged to spend a minimum of 1-week as an observer at the practice of the mentor
- A minimum of two meetings a year
- At the end of 2-years, the protégé and the mentor would be expected to submit a review of their experience of the mentorship to the Neurosurgery Research Listserv
